Don't feel bad Landlocked GEZ but I was born and raised in New York on the beach and now have to live in Dallas Texas, 6 hours away from the nearest beach.

Hi All

If you calculate the farthest point from any coastline in the UK you would come across Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. Being an avid surfer, I have situated myself in THE most landlocked part of the country.

In fact there is an English Oak in one of the parks here that signifies the farthest point from all coasts.

'Meriden' - the official centre of England is only a few miles away!!

I like to think of it more as the closest place to ALL beaches in the UK!!

I am going to Warwick Uni next year,...which means in just over a year and a half i might be living in Leamington Spa too.

That's almost weird.

I know, i checked that out before i applied. To be honest i decided i have my whole life to live by a beach, and it was the best uni otherwise for me...

But i got a 3 month surf strip to South America to look forward to,...i go in 5 weeks :D

The breaks of ecuador, peru, and brazil watch out, a wannabee surfer is on his way, soon to return a mildly competent surfer [one hopes]. Hopefully i will see some exciting things too.

I'm from Vancouver Canada where there is no surfing. I live in London so I have to do weekend trips to Devon and Cornwall to surf but its pretty expensive (car rental + petrol + B&B + rent equipment = £££). I've tried surfing in Morocco and Long Island (outside of New York City).

Hey I guess the idea of the thread is where are you from but why not add where you've surfed.

Hey everyone!

I'm Hannah and I live near Oxford, in the UK. I didn't think there were that many other UK-ers on here but I seem to have found them all now...! So special hi to you! At least most of you can go surfing when you want - I have to do my GCSEs at the moment and Oxford's also not exactly close to any good beaches!! Also lack of transport is quite a problem for me, but I guess I can start learning to drive in..er...5 months! Wooh! I seriously can't wait!

So there you go, hello! xxx Hannah

(PS: If you were wondering from the username, no I don't look anything like Barbie - it's a brunette thing! My friends call me it because I'm a brunette and proud of it so they do it to annoy me! Many of them also seem to be hinting that I should have been born blonde...! No offense to any blondes because ALL my friends are blonde so if they're saying it, believe me, they don't mean it in a rude way!) Later...x

hi every1
im KT im 16 (17 in july).
now i really am what you call a beach baby i was born in durban south africa in a hospital right opposite the beach! plus durban has the best surf spots in south africa! but unfortunatly due to my fathers job i move around to much (on my 24th house at the mo 17th school) and seem to be getting further away from good surf beachs. and now im living in surrey in england where you have to travel ages for surfing! but no worry hopefully in october i should be surfing in sunny south africa again so its all good!
