Scaling the whitewash...how?

Postby Beachbum » Thu May 07, 2009 5:30 am

Hey guys, sometimes I see some of those surfers who are really killing it out there, literally surfing up the broken whitewash and making it to the clean section of the wave's face. It seems like a combination of a floater, but they're riding the force of a breaking wave's face which I thought would knock you down. Yeah, I can't really explain it, but hopefully someone will know what I'm talking about haha.Image

How do you do this, so your nose doesn't go under from the wave crashing down on it?

your talking about foam climbs? basicly, you got to make a really sharp bottom turm and the throw your arms up to unweigh the board. This will hopefully get board of the face onto the foam. You got to hit the foam verticly when unweigh your board, or you wil get clipped. Speed is also needed, or you will just get thrown off. When u get to the top just rotate your shoulders back to the beach.

make sure you put some weight on the backfoot/tail pad to get some lift otherwise its just plowing into a brick wall

Yeah, that's what it's called, Foam climbs! Thanks for the tips, I'm going to try it the next time I'm out there.
