So im looking to buy a surf board and learn how to surf.. im looking at a mini-log board by playboy surf.. what kind of surfboard would be a smart idea for me to start of with.. a short board or this mini-log im looking at..

Depends on you, your age, size/body type, how often you'll be surfing, how fit & strong you are, how well you can swim and paddle.
Rent a few different boards to try, before buying anything. Delay buying. Then buy your first board used, that way your mistakes will cost half less.
