Postby dunno » Sun Mar 22, 2009 10:52 pm

Hi all,

First post here :) Been surfing pretty consitantly for a few months now and am loving it!!! However one little 'problem' I noticed on the weekend-Ive always used booties, but on the weekend it was so warm Ii took them off. Yikes what a difference!!! Felt like I had absolutley no grip compared to with the booties even after another two coats of wax. Ahwell mor epractive I guess. Anyone else notice this? Anyway great site and Im sure you will hear plenty more questiosn from me

I cant stand booties i was forced to wear them for a week as my tootsies were falling off they felt too weird and waaay too much grip  Then after i got used to em when i took em off it felt like the deck of my board was ice - nothing a quick wax comb/ re wax didnt take care of though.

Agree with ya...surfing from Oct-May in booties...then it takes ages to get used to bare feet again! Just feels so slippery. Always give the board a good waxing before going in helps. I get used to it after a couple of weeks, and then it feels much better!

I only wear booties form warmth, not for grip. Bare feet allows more feel and better control of your board.

Try more wax, or change wax brands. Also, a fresh scrach of wax before every go-out.

Lastly, bare feet feels different than booties, but after a while you'll like bare feet better, most surfers do.

I still wear my booties with just my pants in the summer - the 'Borat' look gets me the best place in the lineup all the time !

Oh, when I did try surfing barefoot I slipped loads, and I used to bend my blinking toes on the deck grips, and I'd be a wus walking over the pebbles back to the car, and ........
