for the hardcore surfers

whilst reading all these stories of surfing in florida, hawaii, indonesia etc. i felt the boys and girls of the north of england deserve a mention.

they dress up in whale skin thick wetsuits and wear silly looking hoods that make them look like unbalanced seals, all in the search of, for the majority of the time blown out messy waves in artic cold seas that give you ice cream head and make your nose constantly run for hours.

duck diving feels like mike tyson is punching you in the face with a giant icecube

they risk stomach bugs and disease all in the search of a good wave in britains polluted seas.

yes surfing is glamourous when in boardies looking at hotties in bikinis on the beach but spare a thought for those up the east coast in britain every week freezing their nuts off!!!!

these people are truly hardcore!!!!!!

Had a blast this morning at Croatan, 5-6ft with + sets, fast surf, really grindy I took out my 7'0" single and carved around those things. It's been a while since we've had any powerful surf and boy did I miss it! The water is still about 38 or so but the air temp had warmed up nicely to about 48. Caught all backhanders to try to fight the current that was running strongly south due to the north winds. There were only 2 other surfers & 1 sponger out until 11am! I love it when it's cold There was a photog on the beach as well who said he got some and will send 'em to me. If he does I'll post 'em up!

So Stoked!

I think some people would perfer our "warm" water compared to theirs... I was reading about the red bull ice break and durring one of the heats the water was 32 and air was 1. They had little icicles comming off their chins, I think thats one of those sit on the beach and enjoy days...
