First Longboard

Postby FriedFlounder » Wed Feb 25, 2009 7:52 pm

I'm trying to get into surfing and I would like to start with a longboard. Can anyone recommend some good beginner brands with reasonable prices? Any good websites or places you would suggest purchasing from also? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

without knowing your age/weight/height etc... id be shooting in the dark. But regardless go secondhand for your first board then after you are confidently surfing get a custom job or a quality off the racker.

I agree get a used board. Longboards are a little less sensitive to wear and tear, so even if it has seen some days it will still probably serve its purpose.

Also, where are you at? I know my areas to recommend shapers, but need to know where you are, some others might live close to you and chime in.

I live in the philly area, which is right near all the south jersey beaches, delaware beaches, and not to far from the Maryland eastern shore.

I'm 6'3", 215 and have a NSP 9'2" longboard. While it's not "custom shaped", it also doesn't carry the custom price. A good learning board. I'm even thinking of selling it (shoulder arthritis), so we might have a solution to your problem. I'm in your area too. Let me know. Btw, the board is like new.

Longboard ... What beautiful memories. Well I have learned with a longboard and I had this NSP 9 ', 2 ". I think you've seen a bit of

weight to start is perfect. It' a longboard that allows you to improve quickly. It has a good scoop, a good thickness, it allows you to

anticipate the wave well, and has a good weight to give you security. I give you that advice, or a BIC 9 '0, various measures have

little but excellent characteristics. The price is good for both of you are very resistant.
