Help with learning to surf/Surf groups Jax FL

Postby sunsurfer1987 » Sun Feb 22, 2009 6:43 pm

Hey everyone! I just started surfing not long ago. I've been hitting up the beach and improved a little. Most of the stuff I go by is just the advice on this site. Anyone know of any groups around Jax Florida for beginners? I would like to get with ppl who are learning or a group of ppl who surf that can help me with some tips. Thanks!

I surf most of the time at Mayport (the Poles), but I go to the North side of the pier (19th, across from Fletcher Middle) every so often. I'm also somewhat teaching a friend how to surf, but he doesn't have a wetsuit, so we're taking a break from that, until the water gets warmer.

Where in Jax beach do you normally go?

Hey Teaweed. The poles is the only place I've surfed @ so far. I have a pretty nice wetsuit, but I see that there aren't any waves out. Have you been out here lately?

Yeah, if you ever head out to the poles and don't mind giving me some pointers let me know!

I'll probably be there this weekend, since we're set to get some ridable waves up until Saturday. I'll probably be there Saturday morning.

What kind of board do you surf on?

I got a used 6'3'' Coda from AquaEast, it's kinda hard to get a hold of things on a board like it, or so I hear, but for storage and travel purposes it works. How about you?

I would go to the beginers guide on this site and read EVERYTHING. It cleared up a lot of my questions ... https://surfing-waves.com/beginners_ ... urfing.htm
