First surfboard shaped !

Postby outonawave » Tue Feb 10, 2009 10:50 am

Hi,

I put this on swaylocks, but thought i`d put some of this on here to as this is where i browse around normally :)

I`ve always wanted to get into shaping and finally decided to give it a go a few weeks ago - i just finished my first board at the weekend and am really pleased with the outcome! Its a 6'9" board with a swallow tail and a quad fin setup. Its hopefully got plenty of float in there with a good width and depth as i tend to surf at saunton sands where it can sometimes be a bit messy.

Here`s the pics of the progress -

There you go -a few mistakes and lessons learnt along the way, but very pleased with it - next on the agenda will be a kitesurf board i think :)

Excellent stuff, it should pick up waves nice and easily.

took the board out at saunton on sunady and i have to say i was pleasantly surprised - it catches waves really easily and rides very well too! too be honest, i`d go as far to say i prefer it to my 7'6" mini mal as it turns easier than that.

i may fit some slightly smaller fins to the back to 2 to make it a bit looser though - great fun. next one will be a kitesurf board! just bought the airbrushing 101 dvd while i was up there - was very intersting viewing!
cheers, mike
