man it was cold..

Postby TheRedDarren » Sun Feb 01, 2009 10:19 pm

I went in today...
1 degree air temp, 8 degree sea temp, 20 mph winds (at least it was offshore) all for 1 foot waves with the very occasional 2~3 footer coming in!!
oh and no hood either, I lasted just over an hour, it was fun though!
Anyone else been in in this really cold weather? :D

Awww, the things we have to put up with eh!??

Yeah, went in the other day and the 20+ mph winds made it a little brisk! The cross shore rip made it almost impossible to get out and getting back up the beach took me and phillwilson about 15minutes as we, with our logs (love them in the water, hate them out), were forced to walk sideways and get a sandblasting...strongest winds i've ever known.

Made my first drop though! Gotta be good for those conditions! Bring on some clean swell and light offshores!

Water temperature is hardly 3 degrees here, haven't been in yet in that cold though (had exams and no gloves yet + I live 1,5 hours away from the beach). I'm probably going to give it a try on saturday though, I hope my winter gear is good enough so I can stay longer in the water than the drive to the beach is at least, haha.

I think next time , we just go with the rip til we get to the next inhabited place, then get out and order a taxi back to our stuff :) :)
