RESULT!!! Just phoned my insurance company and they have agreed to send a cheque (less my £50 excess).

Im guessing you didnt tell them you broke a surfboard whilst surfing? I thought all contents insurance ruled out paying out for boards while 'in use'? It normally takes some 'creative claiming'.

Actually, that's exactly what I did tell them. (puts on Jesus freak hat) I prayed for favour before I rang them, told them the truth and less than 10 minutes later there was a cheque in the post. (takes Jesus freak hat off).

If you don't like the praying explanation then .... I am also guessing that that:
a) I've never ever claimed on the insurance before
b) I've had the same policy for over 12 years.
c) It was only going to cost them £230 after the excess
helped persuade them as well.

Whatever, I am chuffed with the result.

We'll see what happens (God forbid) next time If ever I have accidental damage to my board.

He had a nice lump on his head for a while and a bruised ego but other then that he was alright.

You may as well start now - I'm off to the catlins next weekend, which is the bit of Nz with super grunty waves....my 9'6" has three creases, is held together with car pug and duck tape, and last time I tried to make a (legitimate) insurance claim, the insurance company threatened to make a police complaint because they said I was trying to commit fraud!!
