Drinking tea

Postby greg@hoodatsurfco » Tue Dec 30, 2008 10:14 pm

Being American I wasn't raised drinking tea. I drink coffee, and usually a lot of it!

I want to start drinking tea more than coffee.. so I am curious since there are a lot of people from England on here, and it seems to be the "stereotype" that you guys like tea a lot, (assuming it is true) what kind of tea would you recommend for drinking in the morning? And how do you serve it? With milk, sugar.. what ever you do.

I'd like to know. The only tea I ever drink is Green tea and I am quite bored of it!

Normal tea is also called breakfast tea. I like it strong (ooer) with a little milk and one sugar.

All the flavoured stuff is for girls n' hippies!

I didnt used to drink tea untill a year or so ago, apart from jasmin tea in chinese resteraunts..

Dont go in for all the herbal or fruity ones now either , or earl grey/lady gray/etc

Just do English breakfast , with a dash of milk. Quite refreshing in a way goof coffee isnt realy.

I drink a lot of tea. Strong, white, no sugar. I don't go for the fancy ones either.

thanks guys! I am mainly looking for a nice "strong" tea that I can add some milk to. Sounds like I got some good ideas here.

I do not like sugar in my coffee or tea I prefer tasting it as naturally as possible. Never been a fan of sweet stuff like that. (Can't stand sugar in coffee!)

buy yourself a tea pot and go get some loose black tea like english breakfast or prince of whales. Assam/celon/kenya are all good brands too although celon being a little weak for my taste. Then add a dash of milk and 2 sugars and thats what i drink all day :D

awesome!

I am looking forward to enjoying a hot drink that's actually good for me. Or at worst not bad for me ;)

I like really strong flavors.. for example when I make my coffee it's always pitch black when it brews because I like the bite it offers. Is black tea similar to that "idea" ?

If you can get hold of it, there's brand called "Yorshire Tea", all the tea drinkers I know swear by it. Good strong taste

The Yorkshire tea suggestion made me giggle......it's true though you get a good cuppa out of it :)

In the Uk we call strong tea "builders tea" that's the way proper blokes like their tea...apparently!

However I dont take sugar........i'm sweet enough!

Hi Greg, What brands can you get?. English breakfast by Twinnings is good, you can have it black or with milk as most do. Sugar if you want.
Tetleys and Typhoo are not bad.

I prefer it the Dutch way. Weak, no milk, one sugar.

However, am definitely preferring tonigh'ts tea. Tis a purple shade, made of grapes and goes by the name Merlot. Wahey.

anyone who drinks weak tea has just wasted a tea bag! dont do it!!!!

The perfect tea is brew water and tea bag (none of that value suff mind, cant be doing with that) for about 4 minutes- till completely black then add tiny amount of milk -till maghoney colour. Then add one and a half sugars and your all set for a f£*king sweet cuppa.

enjoy!
