As an adult I have yet to be to a break where I was respectful and still had problems. I find alot of people in the lineup don't talk at the more "local" breaks. Its always great to talk to people in between sets, gets the crowd loosened up. I surf a fair amount now, but i wander. Eff surfing at the same spot all the time, i like variety!

Ged, your friend may be able to join me. I surf as regularly as possible at Bolinas, Dillon Beach, Linda Mar, and Pleasant Pt (Santa Cruz 38th st). I also occassionally go to Duran Beach, Salmons Creek, and Caspar Creek. I'm not a cool young dude and I don't surf like a pro. Perhaps these things matter one way or the other.

All this aside, I haven't ever run into localism in these places. I suspect if I went to the Hook in Santa Cruz, Fort Point in SF, or some other places where really good surfers surf, then I might.

Thanks Billie

I'll put what you said to her, I think the advice is generally good. It must be or else noone would ever learn to surf. The thing is shes no wuss, Iv been out in some quite serious swells with her. The other thing is the cold and I know she doesnt like cold water but Im determined to try and convince her to get out there. We are friends from back in PR where its always summer.

Ged, funny about the cold. I tend to favor it.

My feet got numb at Santa Cruz on Christmas day. I was as warm as could be 3 days later (yesterday) at Dillon Beach. Go figure?
