I learnt on a 165, as I think most beginners do and I picked it up pretty quick although I'm still a beginner really.

I'd guess with that board being a little shorter it'll be faster and you'll have a bit less balance.

165? I asume you're pretty tall or were lucky enough to learn on powder!?!

Stick with the old adage (is that a word or did I just make it up?) of it reaching somewhere between your adams apple and your bottom lip.

Nah, sadly I didnt learn on powder actually I had to learn on synthetic first of all.

I'm not that tall, a smidge over 6ft, but I am a little stocky to say the least.

I didn't know you were a short arse RJD!!

I'm 6' and ride a 161 for powder (it never comes out) and a 158 which is my flexible friend for all the rest.

Lower number = cooler.

Anything over 160 is seriously embarasing.
