Pad placement

Postby jon.biarritz » Fri Dec 12, 2008 1:17 am

I've been advised a couple of times to place the kick pad about 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches away from the leash plug. But on team boards, the pad is placed right next to the leash plug, basically as far to the rear as possible, probably for maximum manoeuverability

Your thoughts on best pad placement? Is there a rule of thumb?

Over the fins.
The kicktail just behind the middle fin (assuming you're on a thruster).

widest part of the pad over the front two fins, on a thruster. the guy at wrv told me to put it there, even though it's not right up against the leash plug. he said that people might even say, 'dude, your pad is too far forward, but ignore them, because they don't know what they're talking about.' it just depends where they placed the plug in the deck

Turns out that position is with the pad right next to the leash plug on my boards. So I put the pad too far forward on my Simon (left board in my avatar) and on the 2 Bradley boards where the pad was already there it's in the right place. Cool, thanks drowning, silly & twerked for that.
