maybe if kerry didnt change his mind every 5 minuites about every thing he would have stood more of a chance, its funny though every american i know and chat to all voted agensted bush why becuse they have a wider range of infomation at there disposal regarding world wide issues bush only made it becuse the majority of his votes came from states were all people see is whats local they dont realy know whats going on in iraq, plus all the religious nuts seem to worship bush

bet michael moores having fun over the results lol

as far as terrioist threats are concerned i think its all hyped up to scare people to make us feel afraid hype the situation up so more people back his cause

i live in boston, and as much as i like to stay out of politics, i would have to agree it was pretty stupid to re-elect bush - but when the alternative is kerry it really doesn't leave one with many options. in all honesty they would both be just as bad - one cant read/write/talk and the other cant remember what he reads/writes/says thus contradicts himself. lets just hope that once again bush manages to put together a cabinet of people smarter than him to carry him through another four years.

Good. Some decent debate...here we go.

NO I do not believe Americans are stupid. Remember people they do not have the benefit of un-biased global media like the rest of us out here in the real world do. They are fed their news from American owned organisations that are always inward-looking As a result they look at their place in the world with rose-coloured glasses. They can do no wrong in their eyes.

Look at their society's reaction to 9/11. They were incredulous that "anybody could do such a thing to them"...but me here in NZ could understand perfectly.
They have been feeding insergent groups money, weapons & support for over twenty years....was it never going to come home to roost? (Groups like the Taliban in Afganistan -America originally funded them to fight the Russians in the 1980's...and they just carried on existing - darn-it), What about Regans "arms for contra "deal in the late 1980's?? Eventually some xxxxx was going to happen on home turf wasn't it?

They do not understand (or it's never pointed out to them) that no-one can win a "war" against terrorists; quote Bill Clinton "for a country to win a war against terrorists they must demolish them...for a terrorist to win all they have to do is not get caught".

They do not understand you cannot throw 2 billion dollars a day at Afganistan & Iraq indefinately...6% of the worlds money has been spent there in the last 2 years...how much longer can it go on? Bush just asked congress for another 70 Billion last month....this is good money going after bad.

Bill Clinton left office in 2000 with the biggest budget surplus in history...4 years later (care of war monger Bush) the American economy is in debt & tatters....and what pisses me off is when their economy goes bad....so does all of ours.

Do Americans not see that when he's done with Iraq...next comes North Korea, it won't just finish ...Why do you think he's so friendly with Australia at the moment. Answer: Australia is the physically closest western alliance country to Korea with enough fuel reserves/supply lines to launch an operation. If you want to launch B-52's with big payloads.. it'll have to happen from their base in North Australia...
But people...North Koreas' leader isn't clever like Saddam...nope, he's just plain nuts and nuke capable to boot...

Americans do not understand that the longer the various terrorist groups tie them up with several conflicts over various expensive theatres of war the more bankrupt & divided their society becomes (what's that saying "divide & conquer") American society is losing this war. They live in fear on a daily basis, they're bankrupt financially, they're divided leadership wise. What else could go wrong?

Americans like to think they're "winning" the war on terror...but all I see is "amber" alerts in citys, armed police & army patroling citys & airports, for me to travel internationally I now spend hours in queues waiting to be finger-printed & iris scanned etc...I see Americans basic civil rights trashed under the new terrorist legislation. America is no further ahead in this conflict that it was 2 years ago. And us in the global community all bear the cost.

They have the President they deserve. They voted for him.
That's my rant for the day :-)

We are idiots-it's sad. We react inappropriately to terrorists, we don't listen to world opinion on important events, our news media is just plain ridiculous- though I will say NPR (National Public Radio for those that don't know) is a relatively unbiased news source, and we just reelected Bush. The list could go on and on. Just realize, we are not all, like this, just most of us. You guys don't even realize the half of it- fear runs this country, from the news, to gov't, to everyday life. If you want Americans to believe something, scare them into it.

For those that didn't see a geographic breakdown of the voting, the ignorant masses mostly occupy the middle of the country and the south east ( where I , ahem, live) but the Northeast (Boston, NY, etc,) and west ( California) tend to be more intelligent and aware.

Actually, there was a really good colour map of your election voting pattern in our weekend's paper. Entertaining reading....and looking at the Bible Belt as it so clearly exists.

Actually, on this same topic & theme. The same article suggested that Hillary Clinton will be the most likely & viable challenger to Bush in 2008. Imagine it. It'd be a refreshing change.

In the US, Presidents can only run for two terms so Bush can't run in 2008. I agree- Hilary in '08 would be very interesting.

i dont think that all americans are stupid, they (as in there leaders) have made some serious mistakes, but who hasnt! the difference between the rest of the world and america is that americans are more trusting. how else could presidents lie and lie and lie and keep getting away with it. its not the american public at blame, its the system. politicians are out to make a name, unfortunately not to make a real difference in the world

it has to be said though, how the hell did bush get in again after iraq???

Bush got in after Iraq because the American people wanted to re elect a president who they felt may handle the war better because of experience. Also..Bush has actually bolstered the US economy and raised the standard of living for middle classes, grabbing all the votes from the middle class which is an obvious majority of the USA.

The way bush is going, were goign to have more oil than we know what to do with, weapons we don't need, fighting invisible enemys, and wasting money. There is a big shortage of money in texas schools, but bush goes and spends 40 million to re-inaguerate himself...

I think were stupid.

I agree that Bush shouldnt be in the white house...
But Kerrys no prize pick either.
Is this really the best our country can come up with?!?!

So it really was a pick for the lesser of two evils, but remember, not everyone voted for bush, there was only like 100,000 people more, i think.

Im just sorry to who ever else we try to rule.

""But people...North Koreas' leader isn't clever like Saddam...nope, he's just plain nuts and nuke capable to boot...""
He may have nukes, but he doesnt have any launching system. Theres not a change in the world, within the next 4 years, N Korea will launch a nuke at the US.

And I actually fear the day Hilory Clinton comes to office. It will happen if she runs, becuase... she is a she, and people would be afriad of being sexist and some would just like to see a female president, so she will get in for being a girl, not the best (i think).

And i agree that americans are scared into doing things. If you were to tell the american public, "if you step outside for more then five minutes, terrorist will be able to see you on satalites, and they will later come and kill you (lol)." americans will not leave their house. My point is, americans will stop living becuase there is a chance they might die. But dont you think your more likly to die doing 70mph down a jam-packed highway.

I think someone needs to stop us, becuase, however much we think we do- we have no control over this country. I think the other major superpowers of the world, need to allie against us, next time we suggest something like iraq.
