fish, twin or quad

hi im looking around for a fish that will fly in small clean waves and be loose dont really know what to get (twin or quad). my normal shortboard is 6"4, i am 6"2 myself and 200lb so i dont really know what size to get, was looking at dims around 6"2 x 20 1/2 x 2 1/2 but not really sure if that would be suitable any advice would be helpful cheers.

ehh, it depends on personal perference. get out and ride a twinny and a quad to see which you like better. i have a quad, and i like it. you could probably even go down smaller than 6'2", maybe 6'0", depending on thickness. honestly though, i'd go with a smaller longboard with a single fin far forward in the box. the fish is fun and all, but it's not all that it's cracked up to be. or maybe a retro single fin

A 'real' fish, in my personal opinion, doesnt work very well for taller/heavier guys. The level of volume needed in a, say, 6ft board makes them very corky. So I'd maybe steer clear of a twinny retro, and go with a fishy shortboard quad.

The dimensions you said would be about right, but in a fishy shortboard quad that 20 1/2" width will only be towards the tail, not the full lenth like on a twinny.

And as with any board, preference is all important.

I'm 5'8" 200lbs, had a 6'2" x 20 1/2" x 2 3/4" twin fin retro and I dug how it caught waves, it was my go-to board for small days and mushy big ovehead days. Sold it a while back, wanted more performance. Here is a pic of that one:



Next I had a 6'10" x 21 x 2 3/4 retro twin, not the intended size for a fish but I use it as a longboard in the summer. I sold it and had my shaper make me a 6'10" x 21" x 2 5/8" retro quad. Huge difference in the two, the quad hold up way better, both paddle the same. So, for me a retro quad is the right answer. Here is a pic of both:
