Too high up or too steep.

The native trees in NZ don't grow at altitude - all our mountains are bald. I think they can't live above about 800m or so.

Exactly.

They are there, just lower down and the trees get in the way of the view so I only post pictures taken where there aren't any trees.

Not really. There's maybe one or two days a year with enough snow low enough for a tree run, and then it's a big walk out.

Doesn't bother me, no need to put in comfort turns, and can just blast full on straight down a face.

Have fun you lucky northern hemisphere people :D

It's all melted here - just a few tiny patches left on Coronet Peak, could be worth a hike to build a small snowman, but not much else

:D

I just choked on a latte reading that!

Here you go, one last gasp from me, of winter 2008 in New Zealand, one of the best ever.

I really hope you have a good one, and I'll be thinking of you Real Pol while I'm scoring cold waves with big sharks all summer...

fwiw I've been riding an arbor abacus this year - useless for fakie etc, ok on the groomers if you don't go backwards and ride it like a surfboard off your back foot, but awesome in powder, it's a rocket ship and just like surfing. Luckily I rode about 30 epic powder days this year, so got the use out of it 8)
