Nothing wrong with the north coast of Cornwall. Especially outside the summer when its quieter. Its such a buzz when theres just 4 of you in the water! And your able to find somewhere to park!!

Do they really have cakes that good? Right i'm off to france! :goingsurfing:

Yop gotta love those French pastries and the local Basque cakes. Fresh fruit, fish & cheese. Great inexpensive wine too. Topless babes when it's warm. Good nightlife. Wide variety of spots and conditions (Landes and Basque regions, SW France). Reasonable rent except in July and August. Quicksilver Pro in September, Mundaka in October not far away. Snowboarding & skiing in the wintertime in the Pyrenees one hour away. Paris 90 minutes away with Easyjet at 38 euros one way.

Hey, I surfed today after yesterday's stormy weather, the water is still warm, maybe 18-19 degrees Celsius.

I'm biased but Costa Rica. Get a job as a pineapple picker with Del Monte. :D

Also, Puerto Escondido was pretty cool and gasoline only cost $0.68 per liter. Sweet!!

Hey Jc, I only started surfing about 1 year ago but I have surfed Runton Obviously, Walcott, Sea Palling, and I found this Spot in Sidestrand but I just went to Runton. The thing about Norfolk is that its so inconsistant and I live an hours drive from Runton, Norwich, and I would much rather live somewhere where there are always waves and the weathers better, who wouldn't? What about you, where do you surf?

Well if you can handle the crime rate, dodgy cops, intimidation, bad ethics, @#$%ed up government, high gasoline (petrol) price, weird but unique cultures, speak at least 3 different languages (out of the 11 that we have), xenophobia (phobia for foreiners :P ), and general xxxxx, then you can come to South Africa! 2500km of beautiful coastline, sunny days, awesome chicks, weird traditions, GREAT surf....nothing better than South Africa  .

Where I live, the waves are always consistent in shape, but change alot in size. We get from 1ft to 10ft+ in the exact same spot, but on a different day. So its an awesome place for longboarders and shortboarders. Mind you though, it is pretty sharky, and the waves are deffinetly heavy, even on a 3ft day.....Oh ya, and the locals generally dont like idots from other countries, especially the ones that snake us and drop in our waves just because they think they are better than us

But in all honesty, the surfers here dont want more surfers in the water, its getting too crowded, and with the annoying spongies (aka bodyboarders) tempers flair in the water to pretty nasty results. So if you can handle all that, then come, but if your an arrogant pig, then please piss off (we got enough pigs already thank you)

ENJOY!!

I'd go back to Puerto Rico to live. Aswell as somewhere like Fiji. If I did I think I'd buy a boat and check out all the far out reefs the ones that take upwards of an hour to paddle too. There are some people who do that already, Iv seen people taking jetskis out to a reef called Caballos. The paddle is massive and Iv never done it. The whole north coast has thousands of reefs breaking a long way out but noone ever goes to them because the paddle is too far.

Basically then, if you are up for a long paddle or youve got a boat then you have a reef to yourself.

Whatever you do don't move to New Zealand.

The surf's shitz and overcrowded everywhere, it's cold & rains all the time, the women are all fat meth-heads, the beers expensive, the fresh fruit & veg are all expensive, cars are very expensive, petrol is expensive, people are very unfriendly and hate tourists, lots of environmental pollution everywhere, hand-guns under every bed & in every glove-box, lots of poisnous plants, animals & whatever.. and we have a despot government.

yea, it's all bad here...

New zealand is supposed to be one of the best places to live for quality of life in the world. Some parts get sunshine and clear skies for most of the year even if its a bit colder in winter. The surf is good and consitant, there are no dangerous animals and Im not going to be eating many plants and nowhere could have more expensive cars, petrol etc than England. Gun crime in New Zealand is also supposed to be on a very small scale and the police don't carry guns on them because they don't need to. And New Zealand doesn't have a despot government. Its also not cold all the time especially in Gisborne which is where I want to go.

NZ is a great country to live, but don't for a second believe the tourist hype about clean, green, quality of life, weather etc - you will be really disappointed.

First off, NZ doesn't have consistent weather, it gets real hot and sunny days, and real cold windy days, all over the country, at any time of year. Last Saturday, I woke up to snow, in late spring, and two days later, was wearing T-Shirt and shorts and complaining about it being too hot.

We have a saying here - don't like the weather? Wait 20 minutes.

In most places, there is good and consistent surf, and something for everyone, but in a lot of places you'll be in a wetsuit for a good chunk of the year, even the north.

There might not be dangerous animals, but there is a massive problem with violent crime, gangs, family violence, child abuse, one of the highest suicide rates in the world, huge levels of very visible poverty compared to the UK, shite houses, really shite wages, very expensive for some goods due to it being a little island in the middle of a big ocean with only 4 million people etc etc. There's also the small risk of volcanoes/earthquakes/tsunami - the place is a ticking time bomb, so much so that the ozzie government has a standing travel warning for the country. IMO that's a good thing - keeps the ozzies at home

As for the cops, most of them have got a gun in the back of the cruiser, and they seem to quite like shooting the odd hammer or air rifle wielding meth head.

And the government are a bunch of useless pr1cks, maybe not despot, but not a whole lot better.

On the other hand, if you earn decent money, and can afford to live in a good area, have a decent house etc etc, it's a bloody great lifestyle if you like outdoorsy stuff and can live without going shopping.

Gisborne gets some great waves too, but so does most of the country. Taranaki would be worth checking out too, probably more consistent, with a good selection of reefs around the volcano.

Kiwi's tend not to realise what kind of paradise they live in.

Its not perfect, and its not as wealthy as some countries either, but its a good place to live.

Kiwi guys - wtf???
you're all forgetting is our black, laconic sense of humor.

By saying "The surf's shitz and overcrowded everywhere, it's cold & rains all the time, the women are all fat meth-heads, the beers expensive, the fresh fruit & veg are all expensive, cars are very expensive, petrol is expensive, people are very unfriendly and hate tourists, lots of environmental pollution everywhere, hand-guns under every bed & in every glove-box, lots of poisnous plants, animals & whatever.. and we have a despot government"

What I was really saying is the surf's mostly ok & uncrowded, it has a temperate climate, the women are good-looking (well most of them depending on beer goggles), beer is cheap, all food is cheap, fresh & plentiful, cars are dirt-cheap, petrol is cheap (yes relative to most countries) most people would give you the shirt off their back if you asked nicely, it's clean, safe, no handguns or rad nasty animals or plants...and we've got one of the most stable liberal democracies in the world.

But if you say that stuff the whole world'll be paddling out at your local....

maui might be nice, lots of haoles so you might not get your ass kicked every day, just once a week. but seriously, youre 16, do you have a diploma? how about experience in guest or food services? youre going to need experience first before you come here or anywhere else, to secure a job fast to not end up homeless. waiting tables is perfect if youre outgoing enough cause tourists tip big. id suggest getting a job doing what you want to do now in england so youll have a good resume.
