Help with a hair-do

Postby Jimi » Mon Oct 27, 2008 8:32 am

Hey all, I'm just desperate for help before Halloween hits... I'm planning on heading to a halloween party as Dr Frankenstein... but I need to find a way to make my hair look like I've been electrocuted - if you know what I mean!

Has anyone ever done this look or knows what sort of products I should use?

Also, I've got fairly long hair for a guy - as in a good 4" from root to tip all over.

I would say back comb it

i actually do my hair like this a lot of the time and it works a treat.

grab a clump of hair, about as much as you would twizzle with your finger... spread it kinda flat between your fingers and thumb and with your other hand get a comb and comb the hair back inwards towards your scalp, i normally start with strokes from about an inch away from your scalp and then once you have that bit kinked up quite tight, stroke again from further out until you are combing from the tip.

once you have doe this cump move onto another bunch and repeat. once the whole head is done (leave out the fringe to taste) give the whole head a spray with a firm hold hairspray such as tresemme freeze hold.

thay will do you all night

Sorry? You're suggesting he wears his hair for halloween the same way you wear yours all the time? Sounds like you should start paying more than £3.50 at the barbers!

I used to use stuff called fishfingers wax which I reckon could keep it up like that.

Are you trying to set me up with your mum phill?

Is there not a way of making a solution of sugar and water or something which when you put it in your hair and shape it it drys and sets hard(ish)?

You can also use sugar to 'frost' your hair. Dissolve a load to saturation in bit of warm water.
Work it into your hair with a touch of wax/gel and it gives a crusty frost effect... sort of like its been smoked from electric or frost.

Seem to remember using egg whites when I was punking it late 78. Think the yokes went straight into my tequila slammer and down my throat.

Get your hair wet, put shampoo in it, comb it how you want it, and let it dry (without rinsing the shampoo out).

That's how we used to do it back when I was in High School plays that required wierd hair do's.

Egg whites work too. That's how I used to get Liberty Spikes for Motorhead concerts.

I'd take Sykes advice, I mean just look at his avatar to see that he knows all about electrified hair.

I tried back-combing... I think it looks pretty good for the electrocuted look - but maybe I need more hairspray etc to get the spike look too...

opinions?
