Postby snowdog » Tue Oct 21, 2008 6:12 pm

sorry to continue the artificial reef bent, but just read this on the Beeb seems North Tyneside are after some with the money for:-
"A study is also being undertaken to evaluate the creation of an artificial reef to provide a focus for a range of activities including diving, angling, surfing and marine ecology"

Their new tactic is to emphasise diving and marine ecology to take attention away from the fact that they are useless for surfing

They have gone a bit quiet on the erosion control claims too, after the Mount reef scouring out the beach.

Next they will claim that it's a good way to get rid of plastic refuse, because that's what the reef is. .. tons of plastic dumped in the ocean

i dare them to try again in India with tsunami funds.
the last time 5000 demonstrators got arrested protesing on behalf of the fishermen who just needed new nets and boats -not reefs
besides cheap as chips "reefballs " would have been perfect as it requires non skilled labour.

I wonder how big the protest was if 5000 were Arrested??

i think that asr and co would be "dismembered' by the mob if they turned up there again?

hey everybody -dont go to India with a surfboard -especially near where the fishermen hang out - umm thats the coastline. Just in case someone says "he's from ASR" and 5000 of us spent a week in the blackhole because of them.

That should be an international warning for all surfers !!
thats on topic alright! and in the good interest of all surfers to know!

Ive just checked teh magicseaweed site and theres some really good surf science there with the "scientist" having writtens some books and he's also a t'poa surfer . So there is a surf scientist with some surf sense!

Also there's also some really good basic wave mechanics there explained really well.

I found a section where everybody is also talking about changing sandbanks around for surfing in a low cost way.

Anyway I think that KS is giving the artificial reef topic a gentile hint?
KS -do you own the conversations here?

Up until now Ive been tempted to call 'moderators!' but have resisted on the grounds that having a different opinion is not necessarily the same as having the wrong opinion...

But now we've got the same poster (market research = snow dog = time nor tide = god knows how many others) posting thread after thread, its time to call this a day and block this IP address
