Wow , for someone that does not even know how to surf this is a pretty ........... statement man. typical though.

and for someone not NOT LOOKING TO BE " COOL" JUST WANT TO HAVE A GOOD TIME like you stated in earlyer posts
those sure are some mainstream cool boards and brands. all those boards you have listed are performance surfboards!

not exactly a board you want to learn on, but you can if you have good really
really good balance and are in tip top paddle shape.

those dimensions are all wrong though! every board design your going to need different
dimensions for your height, weight, ability, and the board design itself.

those dimensions are way to big for those boards, for someone your height
and weight. they are not going to ride how they are designed and should for you at those dimensions.

your feet will never be in the proper placement. and they will all be too corky.
if you do get one of those get one for your height and weight so it rides how
it should.

with that being said.
just get an egg or "fun board" man seriously.
get something where your feet don't need to be in the sweet spots.
your going to have more fun on something suited for a person learning to surf and
you will progress much faster to get on a performance design.

when you have progressed enough to be on one of those boards
that you mentioned above, you can use your board you learned on for those
grovel days when the surf is small and weak. or those days when your lazy
and just want to cruise. everyone needs to have a board for those days.
just pick up something for cheap off the used rack to start.

where are you surfing?? i am guessing Cali someplace since all those boards of choice.

that"s my advice and opinion take it or leave it
and good luck.

THIS WHAT I CAN'T STAND ON THIS SITE.... DIDN'T I MAKE IT CLEAR NOT INTERESTED IN OPINIONS ON WHAT BOARD TO RIDE......JUST OTHER COMPANIES OR SHAPERS............I THINK SOME OF YOU NEED TO READ THE POST.........NOT JUST TRY TO BLAST SOMEONE FOR WHAT THEY WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there was a guy in the first or second surf carolina magazine who shapes in wrightsville beach, nc, i think. and all he shapes are retro fish. he seems a bit pricey though...check out wrv in kill devil hills. don't know if this is closer to you, http://www.villagesurf.com/report.php. they have perfection surfboards. tim nolte's shop is on the outer banks. so is ted kearns/gfg. pick up a surf carolina magazine, and you'll find plenty of shapers/shops

Great comment.

Just get a 2nd hand board simillar to one of your mates boards as you say these seem to suit the local conditions and your size and ability. Get out and ride and then you'll be in a much better position to judge the type of board you need. Then you can consider going to a local shaper and making sure you get the right board. The more time you spend on the water the better. A few goes on a mates board isn't enough time to make a good judgement on the type of board you need.

Also if you haven't done it already, rent some different sizes and shapes. Try them all out. It will be money well spent if you find a certain shape that you really like, that you can then look at buying. It might even be one that you had never thought you would like.

Maybe surfings not for you mate    couldnt help myslef there  If you think the attatude on this forum is poor then god help you when you run into a crowded situation in the surf

Yeah grab a second hander. Using a mates board a couple of times is not sufficiant good for getting a feel for surfing and a starter board but until you can actual surf with some degree of skill theres no waaaaaay you can make a proper judgement on what you actually need when you get to that stage go to a shaper.
