Is my Board to small :(

Postby Bonus » Wed Sep 10, 2008 1:08 am

Hey all!

I was out surfing today in wrotten conditions...onsure winds all day and the place was a mess. Anyway i was really tired after only about half an hour of surfing, alot of people were having trouble getting out because of the conditions but id normally be ok to get out. I just got to tired everytime a set came and didnt have the energy to keep going. Im thinking that my board is too small. I have a 6"8 21 x 2 half which is pritty thick, but today it was pritty much under water bar the nose. Im 6"2 and not far off 15 stone so im wondering if i need a bigger board to make it easier to get around!Im pritty fit so the board being a bit small could be the problem...any thoughts?Cheers

it could be that the board is waterlogged. I used to have a used board that was 7'0" and it would sink so much that i couldn't paddle at all. realized that it was a waterlogged board and i knew i had to sell it.

it seems like you are a beginner, so go buy a mini-mal and learn from there.

edit waterhog lol

If your a begginer a board 6 inches taller than you, and your not a light lad, is gona be tough.

I think pkbum meant waterlogged not waterhogged?

onshore conditions make it feel like your sinking because your constantly trying to avoid the chop on the water.

wouldnt worry about it too much.

yeh, I wouldn't stress... onshore wind and waves will make you tired very fast, and it's pretty normal to have water washing over you entire board except for the nose... Give it another go in better conditions before you decide on getting a bigger board, since you will probably end up in a few months on something like you have at the moment anyway.

I'm 5'8' 200lbs and all my boards are 2 1/2" thick except my fish. Sounds like you are riding the right size board.
