Brazil in February...

I'm new to surfing....though well verse in body boarding, ocean swimming, and the tropics.
Heading to Brazil for a conference in February, and thinking of staying a week extra to surf.
Looking for good lessons, good beaches, and good people.
Not interested in tours or packages.
Anyone got any ideas?
