lol using that ugly stick to get through that sized wave is pretty difficult unless you bail a lot or have a good strategy to paddle out(using the rip current, looking for the lull)

I generally ride a 9'6" and when they get to that size, it is just reading the waves for a break and then paddling like hell and not stopping till you get outside. rest up for a few minutes and then wonder why the heck you came out except for the exercise and to prove you could do it. I agree the windswell waves are a pain cause there really isnt a break so we too read for the rips and do what we can to use them. Turtle rolls are not much good as i get smacked in the head or cant hold the rails and get dragged through.

Persist and think of those days as great workout strength training days :twisted:
