Hello, just found this forum on Google. Very cool, hello everyone!!
Hopefully someone out there has some insight. Possibly planning a trip to Oahu around October - December. Does anyone know of some surf spots where its cool for tourists, not going to attempt Pipe, etc. We are both intermediate surfers. I have some frequent flyer miles and stuff to use up - and I can do that there with my husband. Not too far from home. We primarily short board and Live here on the Central Coast in CA. Thanks for any tips, advise, etc. :D

Hey all new to the site and new to trying to get stood up rather than playing with a bodyboard!

Moved down to Bude last October from Yorkshire and usually to be found at Widemouth Bay or Summerleaze Harbour when it's rough I try and 'ride' a 7'11' Surfers Paradise mal so here to learn some more

Cheers all

Old wise one here.. Ex Californian now transplanted in Rhode Island..(Praying for a Hurricane).. ack.. anyway this is great to have a place to hang and relate to the thing that we cant get enough of. being from California, I find it weird that Most of the people here in Rhode Island "The Ocean State" Dont even like the Ocean.. granted its not the Pacific.. but still there are some really nice places here to surf and sun..But nobody except the people here would understand how much we love the Ocean and, cant get enough of it.. Well all of you take care.. Peace

Howdy, I'm John.

42 years old and a surfer for 6 weeks now, WOOT!

I'm in Florida, way up in the northwest bit, the panhandle. Pensacola specifically.

Great forum! I love it that there are members from all over the world. You all have guest rooms and spare boards, right? 8)

I'm Jake, I'm 16, and I live in Central Virginia, about an hour and a half from my hometown, Virginia Beach. Just started surfing a few months ago...don't have my own board yet; I've been borrowing my friend's board (6'8" - the first one I ever rode on) and my uncle's (6'10") lately. I've been out maybe 10, 15 times, but I love it. Best thing I've ever done with my life, other than start pitching (that's my life). Any tips/pointers/whatever would be much appreciated, especially as to what I should get for myself as a beginner.

Just signed up. Determined to learn surfing. Yeah, I am a Kook... Shoulda seen me at HB today!!! Will get a longboard appropriate to my size, 6'2" 215 #, Out there now on a 3-fin Phair, about 6'7" not good for learning, I realize... but it was what I picked up from a friend. Anybody in the Corona, CA area have a decent longboard for cheap, lemme know.

Hi there!

I'm Flavio a 24 years student.

In the august of last year (2007) i found myself travellin' alone in the California state. From Frisco to San Diego. Being there i decided to try surfin' some waves and i go to the nearest beach and i rented a longboard, sittin' on the sand lookin' at the real surfer and askin' the locals for tips. It was amazin' and one of the most adrenalinic things i ever done in my life. Something just runned into my veins and i falled in love for surf and for California!

Unfortunally...i'm italian and here we haven't much nice waves and you have to be very lucky for find them. Anyways, i'm tryng to learn all i can about surf and i'm plannin' a trip to European Atlantic Coast from France, Spain and Portugal where there are some good waves...and who knows...one day back to California!

Peace!

Wow, I remember when I was a "24 year old student"
I am now a 57 year old father of 3 grandfather of 7 (soon to be eight). My kids think I am a Rock Star, my friends think I am crazy... I believe that you are never too young, or too old to chase your passions, or your dreams. I will learn and I will enjoy, and I will write to tell about it here on this forum...
Peace... 8) [/quote]

I'm agree with your kids, you are a rock star ;)
My uncle too is a surfer and he's 52 years old. I guess that you aren't old since your spirit is young :)
