New board build

Postby CHarvey » Sat Aug 30, 2008 2:16 am

So I made another fish for one of my co-workers. He requested a 5'10" fish with the following dims:
5'10"x17 3/8" (1' from nose)x20 3/4" (3" front of center)x16 3/4" (1' from tail)x11" and 2 5/8" thick
Board is going to be a twin keel and has a very slight single into a slight double concave for the bottom. Took me 4 hours start to finish with a beer break.

Just finished the board and cleaned up my hands enough to handle my camera

Tail of the board. Found it easier to cut this in with a fine toothed hack saw blade.

Top of the board next day.

Rail up on the nose.

Looking forward to hearing what you guys think.

Thing looks like a marshmallow from the overhead pics.. lol. Looks normal when you see the looking directly down the nose though. Good looking shape man.. never ridden a fish, so I have no idea how that shape looks compared to others.. but looks cool man. :) Good job.

Is it going to get any special art?

These are the pics the artist sent to me of the artwork the customer requested. Wouldn't have been my choice but it was done very well.

I think I am going to send it down to TNT glassing as I have a hook up there through the shop I shape at.

Unfortunetly the board is for a guy. I told him he had better tear it up on that board to make up for the paint job.

The guy is married. A front? Who knows, but thankfully he is in another office.
Will be using polyester though.

Thank you for the compliments.

Looks good dude! I can't say the paint design is my favorite but it looks well executed.

What kinda fin set up is going in it?

Thanks Tom.
It's going to be a twin keel FCS fin system.
