Postby vandangos » Sun Aug 24, 2008 11:28 am

im having abit of trouble with my pop up at the moment. when i pop up my feet are always to close together which then means i fall off or cant do anything on the wave due to the position of my feet. has anyone else had this problem? any sudjestions or things i could do to stop this?

thanks, karl

And don't just practice in the water. Do a series of pop ups at home on your floor - ideally lay something down on the floor as a guide for the center and back of your board. Then when you pop up, check your foot positioning to see if your feet are in the right place.

You can also do this in the sand (the dry sand, not the wet stuff by the water) on your actual board a few times if you're not worried about people looking at you.

Doing a few practice pop ups helped me fix not having my back foot centered.

Short term soultion would be to slide your front foot futher up the board quickly as soon as you pop-up before you fall or lose the wave, and keep low to stop you falling so quickly

Make yourself a cardboard cut out of your board, mark where your feet are supposed to go and practise, practise, practise.
