The fall at 3:30 is classic.. haha. Nice.

Was that out at Hermosa again? Looks like your cousin is struggling with needing to get his feet planted right. Front foot forward, back in back. Saw a fall a two of his when he ended up feet even on the board. He should work on making sure he gets one up middle and one on back.

As for you.. it looks good to me.. you just need good waves. haha. Its like the waves you are getting just crash out right when you arre gettin up anyways. I think if you actually had a direction to take off on.. you might get it. Only other thing I noticed is that it seems like your nose pops out quite high from the surface.. you may be putting too much weight on the back. It's like you may be stalling yourself out of the wave.

That's like watching myself, only I don't have to wear a wetsuit.

Very cool, man. Thanks for posting. Nice to know it's not just me that nosedives of the front of my board from time to time.

Okay you got the goods but those waves are holding you back. Closeouts in small surf with a shortboard  not gonna get much going.

With better waves i think you will make a lot more headway so pray to the surf gods for a swell

Still its all good practise

lol!! your cousin was funny to watch! your surfing is pretty good, you just need much better waves, trying to cutback in white water is suicide lol, i did that once the board went forward and i was launched a mile the other way lol! looks good bro!

haha.. yeah, hate to say it.. south bay (hermosa/redondo) doesnt have the best lines... we get them now and again, but for the most part, it's a lot of walls and short rides. It helps on learning fast pop-ups though. hah.

I've had decent rides at Manhattan pier on my sponge, and up al El Porto..

But Hermosa/Redondo, I haven't had the GREATEST of luck either...

Ya im lloking real real forward to the next time i get a chance to surf some huge winter swells. Strange though im kinda glad when the swell dies down a bit gives me a chance recoup and work on other things that i would be too afraid to try on 15ft thumpers

really you shouldn't even practice with a shortboard on those day.

get those ugly stick(9' longboard) and start practicing for real.

you need at least waist high to get something moving.

Yep , bigger waves. Go up the beach with me.. to el portel , its never really crowed unless weekdays and the waves are always 3+ on shitty days, the drive is worth it trust me. Sometimes i feel like i feel like im never going to catch air when i wipe out.
