I've popped one of my shoulders twice, and both times knew straight away that something wasn't right. I'm no expert, but hopefully you might get away with a nasty sprain.

If it is dislocated, it really needs putting back in by someone who knows what they're doing. Best bet is getting it X rayed at Casualty.

Cheers

Mate you'll know if you've dislocated it!!

If it wasn't sore when you went to bed then you probably pulled a muscle in your sleep. I'm always doing that!

(No smutty comments please :tut:)

well the pain came about suddenly around 3 hours after i got out the water. i went out on the lash and got quite pissed so forgot about the pain last night.

hopefully it is a pulled muscle! although my left hand is tingling and feels numb, and if i look in the mirror the left shoulder is swollen and lower down compared to my right. i'll get it checked out tomorrow and confirm. pretty intense pain!

anyone paddled, popped up and surfed using just one arm? im up for the challenge

Focus on the R part: nothing is worse than not resting an injury long enough. It will just keep dragging on for months that way, whereas you could probably have shaken it off with an extra week of rest.

yeah, just sounds like a sprain or strained muscle. as said, rice that bisch up. take some anti-inflammatory pills, like ibuprofen, and you should be good to go in a few days or a week. i got drilled in the left shoulder by a rogue softtop on my lesson the other day. got a nice little bump and soreness in it, it was actually kind of tough to paddle around the past few days...oh well, powered through it. good luck and speedy recovery
