I have many. The one I watch the most is Step Into Liquid.
But I love The Endless Summer 2, 'To' Day of Days, Thicker Than Water.

As far as feature films...not documentaries...I love Point Break, some good surfing in that film. And everyone should check out Big Wednesday with Gary Busey.

Also, the old Eighties movie North Shore is fun to watch.

By far and away the best surf movie ever made is Freeride. Its an oldie and documents rabbit and shaun Thomson as they surf waves the way we all wish we could. Be warned gromits - its not fully of all the usual slashing, 10 second tube rides or ariels, but it is the most soulful film you'll ever see. A must have a in any surfers collection.

The sound track too, is unreal.

Where did you order them from?

I think my fave film is probably still Singlefin Yellow. But I just watched the new Thomas Campbell/Moonshine fil "Sprout" today and that could well be a contender for top surf flick for a while!! I like Hang a lot too.

Step into Liquid and Endless Summer are both superb too. Endless Summer is THE original surf film - I can still watch it over and over again with out ever getting bored. It always makes me want to ditch everyting, sell up and just go on surf safari for a long time.

First surf movie I ever saw was a n old '70s one called Playgrounds In Paradise, at the time I thought it was awesome. I'd love to see it again as I saw it 20 years ago  ! along with Salt Water Wine and Mad Wax or something.
But the Playgrounds in Paradise film had cool footage of the Severn Bore and the worlds longest board in England somewhere.

Jonny - I ordered them off amazon but I wrote my postcode wrong and only realised the other week two months after I ordered them!
Yay I got the original Blue Crush off amazon and it arrived today! It's so cool, I mean I think the other Blue Crush is OK but it was cool to see 'real' women surfers rip

fav surf film

Postby sharkle » Tue Dec 21, 2004 8:34 pm

I haven't seen all that many, but the one I keep watching over and over is Thicker Than Water--I love the music, the variety of surf styles, the feel of spontaneity, and NO OVERDOSE OF SLOW MOTION. I am so tired of that!! 'Will definitely check out Freeride, though; thanks!

step into liquid is gorgeous although some chapters are kind of boring, billabong odissey is mostly amazing, the first scene do the job for the whole movie, circle one is nice too, and of course... I Know the story is silly but in that time "Break Point" was the movie that made me want to surf, i've just started surfing a few years ago but I saw Break Point when I was 17 in 94, it was really fun, I almost could sign up for bodhi crew at that time  , anyone else would join to bodhi crew? :D

Yeah sorry, I mean point break as you said. "Fast and the Furious" stole that plot... but It was nor even close, at least for me, do you remember the party at bodhi' house? the room with rock climbing posters, and things like that? I've been riding mountain bikes at insane speed down the hill, rock climbing, trekking, climbing mountains about 15000 feets, adventure racing and so on.. and now I'm surfing, and i'm planning to jump from an airplain for the next year, it's not like the movie told me what i was supose to do with my life.. but when I saw those guys, I knew it was what i wanted to do, i'm for sure an adrenaline junkie
