You might be able to pull it off.. but it takes SERIOUS dedication and probably a good amount of luck as well (from what I think). Im new to surf.. but I absolutely love watching contests.. Im not competition material, but hey, if you have the dedication for it.. Go after it. Don't ask people if its a good idea.. if its what your mind and heart is pulling for.. Try for it. Try to not get discouraged. Im sure it's a VERY difficult thing to pull off.. but if you make it there, imagine how badass it is! Professional surfers are living it nice.. surfing everyday, making money from it.. competing, girls, sun, ocean, drinks, parties.. lol.
Keep the ideals in your head, keep the stoke built up. Be smart about it though. Good luck man.
I'm 19 years old. I am new to surfing. I believe I can put enough dedication effort and support from my parents to keep surfing and going to specific spots every once in a while to surf. I know it would not be easy and I will get many people telling me many things (just in like ANYTHING else) but it's not really about competing. It's about learning, it's about living for what you love, and I have to admit, even thought I am new, I have never felt this way about a sport. I've already have had 5 surf sessions in the past week and a half having the beach an hour and a half away with waves from 1' to 4'. We're on summer, so the waves are not that big, but can go a lot taller up to 7'. You're very right about asking. I just needed to hear someone else, right now I am in a very weird situation, and all I can think of is surfing and no matter what happens just making sure I go to a place I can surf, would love it to be daily... I don't know...
