I can't figure out how other girls wear bikinis either. I always wear my rash gaurd top. I have tried to go just in a bikini top and I swear I ALWAYS lose my top. Always!

I've even tried those so called "surfing suits". I tried Athleta this year! They show their models surfing, etc. Um, no, they don't really work! One fall and the top is down and if the top doesn't come down then the wave messes up the padding in the top and makes a lumpy boob - why is that??? How on earth does that happen???

I thought it was just me and my 32 year old, had 3 kids, tiny boobs, LOL! I thought if they were young and perky the top wouldn't come off but maybe not! :D

You can contact Louisa at honeygirl@hawaiiantel.net
Yes, she can ship orders out of her store in Hawaii. I always order from her online. Her website is currently down but you can still place orders.

How are the butts on the Honeygirl suits?? I am fairly small but the butt is my problem area b/c I'm tall and long waisted so a lot of butts are too short in length (does that make sense?? They leave my crack showing OR I have to get them and then they're too big around the sides and ride up). Anyway, I normally wear Lelaini suits or La Blanca bikinis and they fit well, as do Athleta. Do the Honeygirl suits fit like any of those, or do they fit teeny tiny like Roxy?? Besides surfing I DO have to chase after my 3 kids, 5 and under in them!

They make some bottoms that provide more coverage than others. I use the Kristen Boyleg bottom that was shown in the 3rd photo. It has ties on the sides and it's also reversible so there's twice as much material covering you.

I haven't had very much luck with Roxy clothing in general. I've purchased a few RipCurl bikinis, which started off okay but ended up stretching out and losing their elasticity. I also have had bad luck with sports bra style tops. While paddling back out through whitewater, the top was pushed down and I ended up popping out of the top.

Finding the right suit has been a long journey of trial and error for me. I've spent a lot of money buying bikinis, wearing them once, and never wearing them again (Pualani, Billabong, RipCurl, Roxy, Aaron Chang, etc...). Now I just buy the same style top and bottom in lots of different prints and colors. Honey Girl has been by far the most comfortable and durable brand that I've come across so far. Hope it works out for you too.

Besides surfing, I play a lot of beach volleyball and I've never liked triangle tops b/c they move around and halters make my neck hurt after a while.

I love Roxy's criss-cross backed tops (they came out last year, but a bunch of brands started making the same style top this year) because they stay in place and they don't pull at my neck. Their bottoms work for me too. But you really don't really know until you get in the water how things will stay. Which sucks if your bottoms keep getting pulled down every time you try to pull yourself back on your board! =) Typically bottoms that feel extra snug when they're dry (and probably just shy of being uncomfortable) tend to stay on best wet since water makes everything a little looser.

Also, O'neill came out with some rashguard, boy cut bottoms this year in their Skins line that have a draw string, a pocket for your key, and fit nice and snug.

hmm i had that problem with my boardshorts when during bertha a freakin monster set came in i was right in the break zone to i pushed my board forward after taking off my leash(the wave woulda kiillllleeedd my board if i kiept it with me) and lo and behold when i resurface my boxers are aroung my ankles and boardshorts nowhere to be found.it was an embarrising paddle in i must say.

considering there were two rather attractive girls my age in the lineup

but have you girls tried brutalizing rashguard so it only covers the bikini?
or just dont wipe out!

Dmd*Grl wrote:So I honestly prefer to surf in my bikini, but i know for sure it will totally come off in a wipe out. I tried just using my top and some board shorts which works pretty well, but same problem with bigger wipe out/ bigger waves...but i seen a lot of gurls wearing their bikinis do you have the same problem and just dont care, or do you surely cut off your blood cirulation tieing it up? How do you make it so that the bathing suit doesnt come undon or pull up on a wipe out/random wave?

I don't like just wearing my bikini. It gives me anxiety....its impossible to find a suit that never comes off. The Billabong Keala Bikini does a really good job at staying on, i think it was made for watersports. I usually wear a rashgaurd, because who has time to worry? Id rather focus on the waves. Every time i have gone with just my bikini top it has gotten twisted or pulled down. no thanks.

Usually i also wear boardshorts, because half the time even my boardshorts get pulled down in a big wave! I've had my bottoms fall off when i haven't had shorts on. The only bottoms i have that actually stay on are made for surfing and they are really tight. Wearing a wetsuit solves all of these problems though.

Typically, i wear a rashguard over my top and just wear my bathinsuit on the bottom.

I agree with smallwavegrovellerchick on the halter type bikini top being the best style for surfing.

It would really help if you double-knotted all your bikini strings and tie them as tight as they would go. They'll loosen up in the water and should fit just right after a bit of a soak in the ocean.
