Portugal or Canary Isles in November?

Postby voodoocol » Tue Aug 12, 2008 1:47 pm

Hello,

I`m trying to plan a surfing holiday, and due to the usual crap of work, inconsiderate people getting married, birthdays, earthquakes and alien invasion, November is looking to be the only month I can do.

So, was thinking about Portugal or possibly the Canary Isles. Driving/ferrying/flying whatever from Northern UK.

If anyone has any experience of the surf conditions in these places during November, please give us a heads up, it would be much appreciated.

Cheers

fuerteventura will be on fire! warm water, offshore, good swells, cheap accomodation and flights, alpharooms are good for that.
never been to portugal. i really rate fuerte though, never been dissapointed.

Yeah, check out Lanzarote. I've been a couple of times in November and i've never been disappointed (reasonable waves, sunshine, warm water). It's also real easy to get a cheap package deal and just use one of the main resorts as a base for traveling to the non touristy surf spots.

Not got much experience of Portugal, only went once a few years back and didn't like it, took to long to travel anywhere and everything was real expensive (it's probably worse now the euro is so strong), The people i met in Portugal were really nice though.

I know portugal is pretty good, went there last year, to Algarve area. I mean, the water wasn't superwarm, but the swells were pretty good.

I booked through a website called unitedsurfcamps.com, and I see that they've got camps on the canary islands aswell. I'd check that out if I were you.

Have a nice trip,

Surfing Canary Islands November

Postby mcfly_is_afraid » Wed Aug 20, 2008 10:34 pm

Hy,

I can i can help you with some tips as i am surfing on Gran Canaria since years. Best waves roll in from Oktober to April. So you are really coming at the best time. In November the water temperatures are still quite high. Around 22 degrees ... a great place to be would be the surf city las palmas (just google "surf city las palmas" for further information)

Best regards

Unfortunately money`s to tight to mention, so me and my mates will now be off to Gwithian or Constantine.

Not exactly sun but definitely seas :)
