Got a new board!

Postby Chris369 » Sat Aug 09, 2008 7:43 pm

I got a new board last week after surfing a 7'6" minimal for a little under a year (well, I owned it for about a year, didn't surf for a lot of it!).

I thought the transition from a minimal to a shortboard was supposed to be really difficult so I was looking at the longer end of the shorts boards. Nearly bought a 7' JP board but glad I didn't because it wouldn't have been much different to my old board!

I went for a 6'8" JP in the end and took it out last Sunday. I took both boards out in case I got frustrated with not being able to surf my shortboard (I wasn't expecting to be able to get up on it/go anywhere in my first session) but the minimal wasn't needed. I was on my board and surfing it within the hour. The whole transition seemed rather ... easy. Could probably have gone shorter but I love it anyway.

Anyway, here it is 8)

I have been thinking if I should have just gone with a shortboard instead of a 7'6" minimal. :p

Nice looking board! Very cool.. seems like a nice size too. I've been dealing with a 6'6ish (trying to learn on - Im 6'4) and just swapped with my dad to his 7' this weekend. I think I dig the 7' more. 6'8 would be nice too.. great looking art too! I like it.

I did the change already... I was able to get up on my 6'6" the first time. I love it more than my longboard. :p

Chris, that is a nice board. Thanks for posting a photo of it.

I always enjoy when surfers post a photo of their new board.
