over the falls(late take offs)

ahh well ive been shortboarding fo some time and every once and a while a nice huge set wave rolls through and i dont go well cause last time it wa like 8 ft out i was at my local break the hook and as i was about to pop up i was on my way over the falls then since then the later the take off i have been nervous and scooting back on my board but does any one have tips for late take offs and dropping in on steeper waves

to be honest, if you cant take late drops, what are you doing out in surf that big :?:

you need to commit for bigger waves. go early paddle hard and get up quick. be prepared to push hard on your front foot.

hestitate and over you go. Remember a wipeout is generally less brutal when you are on your feet compared to on your belly

over the last winter and we had one nice swell in the very start in summer at the point
