Postby sharondan10 » Tue Jun 24, 2008 2:56 pm

Hi,
I'll be in Portugal from 7 -30 in September.
The plan is from Lisbon to head south and surf on the way.
If any one would like to join he/she is more then welcome.
Bye,
Sharon.
P.S
I must admit I'm not a very good surfer :-)

so.. you're going to stay 23 days, there's time enough to visit not only the southwest but the west coast too since you're landing in Lisbon. I advise you too visit.

Ericeira is the mecca of portuguese surf, home of Tiago Pires (WCT PT surfer), a cultural piscatorial village with some of the best european spots. It's near Lisbon (30min highway) and other historical cities like Sintra and Mafra.

Since in Ericeira I advise you to go a bit to north, don't miss Peniche, funny waves in empty beaches, nice food, cultural and historical places and the hospitality of the locals it's just great.
There's surfcamps both in Ericeira and Peniche.

From Lisbon to South you can make a pitstop in Costa da Caparica, there's not much to see at the city. Beaches inside the city are crowded with stupid locals, outside the city just 2 ou 3km theres white fine sandy uncrowded beaches.

If you stay or pass in Ericeira or Costa da Caparica let me know, we could ride some waves together.

Now it's time to hit the route to South.

Take the Nacional Road, the trip will be much more enjoyable near the coast and pitstoping or sleeping at the beaches or villages than in the highway.

I choosed for you this route:

Lisboa - Sines - Porto Côvo - Vila Nova de Mil Fontes - Zambujeira do Mar - Odeceixe - Aljezur - Sagres

The villages and citys I advised you to visit have Camping Parks, residencials, rooms to rent and many surfcamps along the coast. You will love local restaurants because they're cheap and the local gastronomy rox.

There's hundreds of places and beaches to visit and surf along the coastline, it's impossible to talk about all, once you hit the road you will pass certenly in some of these and find others, it's about that.. dream, explore and discover ;)

You're welcome in Portugal, respect the nature, the locals like to help girls, but try to respect them too :P

Thank you very much, it is apparent that you had put effort in your reply.
Surely I will take your advising route.
From Lisbon I'll go to Peniche stay there for few days maybe at one of these places

http://www.penichesurfcamp.com/
http://www.balealsurfcamp.com/
If some one have a recommendations about those places I'll be very happy to hear.

I'll try to contact you, for a beer or surf when I'll be in Ericeira.

From Ericeira I plan rent a car and to go south, in your route.

Sharon.
