Seaburn & South Shields

I'm from Hull, but go to uni in Newcastle... so when I'm at home, I go to Scarborough (Cayton Bay & South Bay).
I'm hoping to get some surfing done in Tynemouth when I get back after summer : ) I didn't have my own board last year at uni, so I never really had the motivation to get there (also had no one to go with).

Farno- are seaburn and SS good? I mentioned it in another similar post, but when I went to South Shields a month or so ago, it was flat. I wasn't there for surfing, so I didn't think much of it, but since I've heard the place mentioned a few times, I'm beginning to get interested : )

Hello! Northumberland native here but moving south soon, i surf all the places i shouldnt mention that are quite north of tynemouth and quite south of scotland

Yeh this is one of the reasons I joined this board. I live in Newcastle, but have never been surfing there (yet), so it would be nice to meet some people to go with, who have a little more local knowledge than I do (which would be easy, as mine = 0)

I go to Longsands Tynemouth. Its amazing at the moment

This is my first summer surfing (started in the winter) and im loving it!

Would you say Bamburgh and Saltburn were OK places to go to? I've read they're all pretty good to go to, but nothing is better than first hand experience : D

I'm still a bit of a learner, so waves that aren't too scary are good for me!

saltburn is a good wave for all levels of surfer. i live in leeds when im not at uni so i surf the east coast then.

hiya,

cayton bay and longsands sometimes (does cayton still count as NE?) from durham originally but now live in york.

cayton bay showers kick ass and make small frozen tings come alive again. brilliant

Cayton showers are better than my shower at home! XD I just wish they weren't on timer... although if they weren't, some people (ie. me) would spend hours in them...

Now we just need showers at South Bay too. I had to wash my hair in a public toilet sink : ( mmmm classy

I don't know about cayton counting as NE! I've always wondered that too.

i live in guisborough not far from saltburn, the surf is good at times but the beach gets pretty dingy
