So how was everyone's weekend? I made it to Southbay at 7 and it was bloody wonderful!!
got in the water just as the heavens opened caught my first green wave to the back drop of the castle and lighthouse getting all murky and atmospheric, the distant rumble of thunder , two half rainbows and the rain bouncing up off the sea....

its fair to say i have never felt anything quite like it, I had one of those "now we're living" moments....in fact i may have said it out loud hehe.

didnt get out until gone ten, and that was cos the light was fading fast...oh how i Ached when i had to be up at 8 for a days work...worth it tho.

hope to bump into some of you sometime (not littrally, i know im a noob but..l)

gonna ring fluid concept later find out whats working best, north bay looks good on cam but as a learner southbay might be more suitable. i love being in the thick of it but might ride more and learn more in something less flighty...mind you, if theres people going elsewhere I will gladly base my plans on that.

will arive about half seven by all accounts

Ok...well... I completly failed in my attempt to get down last night, just couldnt find anyone to go with , so , as it looks to still be on through today into this evening, I am laying some definate plans down and hoping others will want to join me.

Im going to Southbay and will be arriving by car at 7.20 Im gonna try to park on the road running besides the sea as close to the ramp down as poss..i will be in a black ford fiesta with a white and red board.

If anyone wants a slightly kooky buddy for a sesh, I would love to meet ya.

in front of the pump house seemed ok while the top end looked fast and hollow, inbetween was a bit hit n miss.

very nice pics there ian.

I love an evening surf, everything seems so much more peaceful, I dont even mind when im not catching anything, i just enjoy being in that environment.

..did you try any of the other bays or was Cayton just your first choice?

I heard that south bay was fun yesterday but i dont know if that was earlier.

peaceful doesnt realy come to mind, more like relentless, good fun tho.

i drove past the other two first - north bay looked ok,south bay smaller and cleaner.

cayton was a bit bigger but unpredictable, you thought you where on it then it would mellow out, seemed to be with way with most who where in.
it got better as the evening went on tho.

you can't beat that path just to finish you off either

Oh god...the path!!! took my new surf mate down there on saturday just to check, it nearly killed him going back up to the car...we hadn't even surfed yet!

you are quite right...relentless for the waves, the peace I was tlaking about is more beween the surfers out there.

the crowds have returned their rental boards and a fair few others have got out the water for their bbqs, I seem to feel much more comfortable being kooky and falling off and missing waves in the evenings, maybe its the cover of darkness.

btw, just ot steer this back around... Crispo, are you finding any of this helpful?
