Surfing in Scotland advice

Hey everyone, first post, obviously because I need help but I'm hoping to stick around.

My older brother and I are thinking of going surfing and would quite like to hit the east coast of Scotland.

Here's our checklist.

He's a great surfer and is teaching me. I've been once so we need somewhere to suit that.

We'll be camping.

We need to hire boards.

That's it, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Around the Aberdeen area you have suitabe for beginners;

Lunan Bay, which is a large beach.
Aberdeen Bay, which is a large beach.
Fraserburgh, which is a large beach with incredibly clear water.
And other places around.

As for hiring you'll get all you need at Granite Reef in Aberdeen.
Camping.......erm....I'm sure there are places, google it.

camp on the beach or near to it if its going off!! stay off the sand tho... it'll get everywhere...
nothin like stickin your head out the door of the tent first thing in the mornin and seeing waves... quick surf... brekkie... more surf... lunch.... more surf.... few hundred cans, sing along... repeat

Coldingham Bay and Pease Bay are good for learning if you get the waves (it's summer allegedly so it's a gamble).

Coldingham has a surf shop that rents boards, suits and does lessons pretty much right on the beach. There's also a reasonably priced hotel right there which might be a bit more comfortable in the Scottish summer. Pease Bay isn't far away and the break is pretty much situated right at a caravan/camp site.
