Found this on a sponger forums. Looks sick and is much cheaper than the Typhoon Lagoon one. http://www.surfparks.com/home.php Check the FAQs for prices and whatnot. Don't think they are accepting memberships anymore.

This might head to Cali and New York as well. :D

This Ron-Jon surf park has been in the works for a while ow. I'm not sure if its ever going to become a reality. I hope so, it sounds like a great concept. I went to Typhoon Lagoon about 3 years but never did the early morning surf park thing (before the wave pool opens up to general public. It was too expensive.

Just found out about it, lets hope they get it done.

Its probably gonna be too expensive anyways. Why go to the park when the waves are there for you for free?

60 dollars for 2 hours on the 4-8 ft pool and 35 for the 3-4 ft pool. Not too bad, I was more interested in the memberships they are giving away which give a really nice discount but it looks like they are not doing them anymore...

If they ever finish it, I will definitely make the drive over there to go when there are no waves here. But I don't know that they will ever finish it. Its a big, expensive project and is very bleeding edge.

Head wrecking?

In the summer in Florida, we get like <10% surfable days. And thats on the east coast. The west coast only has surfable waves during hurricane swells.

Does it make more sense now? :D People go in together in groups of 10 and pay $100 per person to rent Typhoon Lagoon, and by all account it is a lot of fun (at about $10/wave). If they ever get it going - the Ron Jon park would be a lot of fun.

I just spent $500 on a 1 night / 2 day trip to the Deleware shore with my family...but mainly so I could get a few surfing sessions in. Day 1 was a total "lake" with less than 1ft swell (shore break in the sand as well) and Day 2 had some rogue waves of 4footers for about 5 minutes that naturally I missed and then it reverted back to a lake again. I spent 30 minutes paddling around and trying to stand up on a few 1 footers only to fall over in the sand a few tries.

Heck, I could get an early morning flight from Balt/Wash airport to Orlando, surf in the park for 2 hrs on perfect waves, not to mention get alot more opportunities to really accelerate my learning/progression on the surfing basics / (in warm pool water none the less) and still be home for a late dinner...and probably could spend <$400 total (airfare, cheap food, park fee, taxi ride from airport to park).

I lose billable hours when I'm in the water, so their price is cheap compared to what I'm already losing.
