Lifeguarded beaches, southwest UK - help needed please.

Hey all,

The guys and gals at youth club have expressed an interest in going for a trip surfing for a weekend which I obviously think is great! I obviously have to think about risk assesments in my role which means I really should find a beach with lifeguards. I havent previously taken much notice of wether theres a lifeguard on the beach - I know there are some at Croyde but that is a bit to busy to take a bunch of kids imo and Im not sure if there are any at Saunton? (I have googled it but no info so far) so.....any other beaches around the southwest? Im not really interested in taking them to Newquay (cos its a shithole imo) but if thats the only option so be it.

A town safe for some teens to wander around would be good as I want them to be able to explore a bit too. Im not asking you to plan the trip for me but some general pointers would be great!!

Cheers all.

Pretty much every beach that you can think of in the main circut will have lifeguards....

Of the top of me head..

Combe, Croyde, Saunton, WestwardHo!

Bude, Widemouth, trebrwith strand, Polzeath Constantine, Trevone, Harlyn, Mawgan porth, Chapel Porth, Porth towan, Watergate, Lusty, Western, Town, tolcrn, fistral, crakenton, perrenporth, Portreath, Goran/Gwithian

argh and so on :p

IMO for the group your thinking I would suggest eather classic Woolacombe or Perrenporth. Both Small enough not to get n troubles but large enough to have an explore in town and beach.

Bude is a good bet too. Small town, lots of cliff top walks, some nice (all with lifeguards) secluded beaches close by. Skate park on crooklets beach, Pitch and put golf etc.

oh wow thanks.....hmm Ive only ever noticed the lifeguards at Croyde before I guess cos they keep having to shout at people to stay inside the flagged zone. You have been a great help. Hopefully I can keep up the momentum and work out some costing with them. Bude sounds really good!!

Jersey sounds great at the moment - enjoy
