The ones I hate are when that sneaker set comes through, You paddle hard, Duck dive, come up for a gulp of air, only realise that you have not gone deep enough and it's sucking you back in. You don't have time to take a proper lung full of air, then go over the falls backwards hoping the rides not too long and that its the last one of the sneaker set.

That is a xxxxx. Happened to me on Monday and I hit the sand too. It wasn't too bad, but far from comfortable. My most hated wipe-outs are still something else. They occur when I try to surf bigger and dumping waves. I usually get thrown off the wave, along with my board, as the lip dumps. Not only is it embarrassing to be playing the human cannonball in front of dozens of people, but hitting the surface at that speed and from that height actually hurts too.

My least favorite wipeout is eating xxxxx while paddling out in heavy surf.

Yeah, these really suck.
Enough time for you to realise whats about to happen, and to get a really good panic going

And then to be aware enough to be wondering how much its going to hurt while you get pitched over the falls backwards. :?

probably the number one rule when wipeing out...fall away from your board, avoid it at all costs.

over the falls. simply because of the awkward position you are in when this happens. you have your back towards the direction of the breaking wave, on your belly.

had one where i hesitated thinking that i would make it past the hump but then i got dragged in. just as I was about to get smashed i could see the guys at the line-up and they were all like, "see ya!"

I do that sometimes too when the set is bigger than I can handle. One of the biggest pains about where I surf is there is always huge sets, even on 2 ft days, you get atleast one 5-6ft set. I useually paddle around it, but sometimes it gets my by surprize, and then, I almost always get sucked twice, sometimes even three times.
