Swimming

There's no doubt that swimming is the best work out to keep you in shape for surfing. You should be doing a combination of Freestyle and Butterfly sets. I try and do at least 2000-2500 yards three to four times a week in the pool and I supplant that with sets of egg-beater (using only your legs to stay afloat) back and forth a few times to build leg strength.

I actually picked up this book a while back.. it has a lot of useful exercises and routines..

You can get it used on amazon for just over $6. I think it's worth it if you truly care to keep in good shape. :D
