funboard to shortboard

Postby Asdrubal_007 » Wed Nov 17, 2004 1:45 am

I'm stepping off of my funboard (7'6") and getting ready to buy a shortboard. I plan on going with a channel islands flyer but i'm not sure about the length and width i should get.

It is supposed to be ridden a little shorter and a little wider than your normal shortboard but i don't know what my normal shortboard length and width are. I'm 6'4 and i weigh about 150 lbs. If anyone can help me determine what the best length for me is, well, It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

New Board

If you are located in San Diego I would suggest you contact your local shaper before spending $600 on a brand new flyer. I will admit the flyer is a popular model and many of my custom boards are built to match the design. The channel island boards do work well, but there is no reason that you cannot get the same quality from your local shaper. San Diego features some of the best shapers in the world. I would be happy to discuss a shortboard design with you personally.

If you are in San Diego, La jolla surf company sells many of my boards, they are located at 721 Pearl street.
