Cheapest Blanks and shaping supplies

Postby never2deep » Wed Mar 19, 2008 1:59 pm

Hey I am new to this forum, and I am looking into shaping boards...I have always wanted to do it, but never had the opportunity to do so, until now.
Could you guys hook me up with some recommendations for companies that have good prices but good quality as well???
I can't find a blank less than $60 beans....
If anyone can beat that then the business will be on :) I am also looking for good prices on resin and fiber glass...the best is 4 or 6 oz right????
What difference is there when it comes to the quality and ride of the board??? I would think the 60z would be more strong but it would make the board more heavy...
shoot me some opinions....
Thanks guys

Yeah 60 bucks is good. What kind of foam is that though?

There is a ton involved in shaping, doing some good ol' reading will help you a lot just to know the concepts. We have a good amount of shapers on this site but not a ton of resources about shaping, so look at some stuff on www.swaylocks.com and check it out.

i got all my glassing stuff from http://www.fiberglasssupply.com they are thus the cheapest i have found.

Be carefull with really cheap foam blanks and dont touch craigs list for them as they are usually defective i.e the moment planer touchers foam you will see a load of buckshot aka tiny little holes.

Best bet is to go to an outlet and ask them the quality of that foam. If they dont know sausage walk away very quickly

That's where I get all my stuff except resin and blanks. Check out fiberglass florida, they will probably also deliver to your house for free.
