Got a 6'8 Board want a smaller one

Postby paulminors » Sun Mar 16, 2008 8:04 am

Hey

I bought a 6'8 board a few months ago just to learn the basics on. At the moment I can pop up easily but am still just surfing in a straight line. I was thinking of buying a smaller board so I can turn easier and surf along the waves more. I'm 16 yrs old an average size. any advise?

Hi, I learnt on a 6'8 board too and trust me, moving down to something shorter makes it a lot harder. I waited about a year on my 6'8 untill I could turn, pump a little bit and confidently ride down the line of a wave.

I'd stick with it untill you can at least turn and ride the face. From experience, turning and riding the face comes all at once (in one session for me) so keep with it imo.
