From Bordeaux to Bilbao - down the european west coast

Hello, im considering a summer surf trip starting in bordeaux and cycling, camping and surfing my way down to bilbao. Ive spent time in biarritz, bidart and saint jean de luz before, but i was just wondering if anybody out there has surfed the other parts of the coasts, how easy it would be to rent a board really, if anybody has ever tried something similar, or any general hints / tips?
