Flying with my board?

Postby surferdude_scarborough » Fri Feb 13, 2004 8:09 pm

Anyone got any idea how much airlines charge for surfboards (i know this was on before somewhere but i can't find it) anyway I may be going to Brittany with a Teacher and a group of people from my school. Im wondering how much i would be charged in baggage costs for my board> its a 6'7 if that helps. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I don't know about foreign carriers but the U.S. carriers usually charge anywhere from $20 to $80. I know that may not be a lot of help but I'm sure someone here will know.

surfboard flight charges

Postby surf patrol » Sat Feb 14, 2004 12:54 pm

I have flown with BA, Air Singapore, Ryan Air, Quantas, Air New Zealand and a couple of others and I have never been charged once. Ryan Air said that I would have to pay when I phoned them before the flight left - I never did pay and no-one at the flight desk said anything. Perhaps I have been lucky.

board size

Size wise a 7'3 should be fine, you might want to check with the airline about and additional cost though.
