One of those painful moments

so im paddling and i catch the wave.. but didnt pop up so sometimes,.. i dunno if its just dumb me..,.so what happens is the board and i fall.. except obvioously the board lands first and then kinda fall on top of it.. although im still holding on to the board.. and ok maybe if i fall on my chest or w.e but it keeps happening err.. on my privates.. which HURTS ... haha does that happen to anyone else? and something that might help avoid it or .... w.e?

i don't normally land on my board but can imagine it hurting a bit if your hands slip away...don't think there's much to avoid it apart from sort ya pop up out

I think that when you sense that you are not going to make it (for instance, you are too late and the lip is launching you and the board forwards) you might as well forget about holding the board. I try to push it to the side, while at the same time using the push to move myself away from the board. Usually works well, I've really only hit my board once in a 100 days of kookdom!
