Inspiring video that makes us all look like big pussies.

Have a chat about any general surfing related topics.

No paddling, no pop ups and your board strapped to your feet! Where is the difficulty in that?

Okay, they're big waves but if you have the time and money to practice, it surely must be easier to pick up than traditional surfing!

Has anyone discussed this before on this site...........

*sitting back waiting for someone to post a link*

Am I completely off the mark? Has anyone here tried it?

I have to agree. Theres hardly any skill, only guts. I've always thought that but no one has ever agreed. I mean theres no tricks or anything.

You guys have got to be kidding!

Laird is doing air drops on some of those waves and if you compare his video footage tow surfing Peahi (Jaws) he's shredding next to all the other guys you see tow surfing. There's video footage of Laird and Kelly surfing the same wave at Peahi and Laird actually makes "the best surfer of all time" look like an amateur. Part of his skill is that he makes it look easy. He's definitely a better surfer than any of us on this forum in tow surfing as well as surfing bombs you paddle into...he's also a skilled windsurfer, standup paddle surfer, foil board surfer, and whatever other wave riding contraptions that guy rides. The reason why these guys came up with tow in surfing is because they wanted to surf waves that are humanly impossible to paddle into.

Here's a local article about Laird rescuing his friend while they were tow surfing 80 ft waves:

Laird not only gets on these monsters but he has fun & shreds, just about everyone else I see on them are just trying to survive.
